Lucy + Jorge Orta
70 x 7: The Meal—Royal Limoges Plates, 2000–8

Food–Water–Life: Lucy + Jorge Orta is the first comprehensive exhibition of work by the French wife-husband collaborative duo in the United States. Better known in Europe than in the U.S. and best known as sculptors, the Ortas’ deeply engaging and witty assemblage works draw from an eclectic array of mass-produced materials like transport vehicles, survival gear, vintage Red Cross boxes, and everyday found objects, which are conjoined and combined with their custom fabric wearables, water bottles, food preserves, and ceramic plates.

The accompanying publication Lucy + Jorge Orta: Food, Water, Life was published by PAPress in 2011.

September 6 – December 16, 2012
